Roseau was supposed to be knee deep in two-by-fours, cement pours, windows and doors at this point in the season. You know, rebuilding. Instead, the Rams have been nothing short of dominant. Strand-less Roseau outscored West Fargo Sheyenne (N.D.), Thief River Falls and Brainerd by a combined 23-3 to start the season. Junior forward Noah Urness (6 goals, 6 assists) and goaltender Connor Woidtke and his .955 save percentage have sparked the strong start. The competition level shoots up considerably on Tuesday as the Rams host Section 8AA rival Moorhead. The Spuds are are off to a middling 2-3-0 start but the three losses have come against the state’s No. 1, 3 and 4 teams in this week’s Class 2A rankings. Acrobatic goalie Kai Weigel (.915 save percentage) and Midas-blessed Aaron Reierson (5 goals) have done most of the heavy lifting thus far for Moorhead.
